 Let's Do MSU!

MSU Academy is a place where kids go to

Make Stuff Up!

Explore elements of story, forms of poetry, and the power of a perfectly placed word.  Learn from fun and familiar examples in children's literature.  Work those creative muscles with in-class writing exercises - and fun assignments to work on at home between our sessions.  Students will also learn about writing contests and publishing opportunities.

Dear Parents:  MSU is not designed to raise test scores.  It is designed to raise your child's confidence in their creativity and to encourage them to have fun writing.

The main objective:

unleash your imagination and have fun writing,

by writing -  just for the fun of it!

 Sue's Muses

 Sue Who? Who is Sue?

Sue Welfringer is a creative writer who gets giggle giddy when she finds a beautiful story written for children.  Currently, Sue is teaching creative writing to children and working on several creative pieces for future publication, especially in the area of creative non-fiction.

Sue has been a member of SCBWI (Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators) since 1999 and is a recent 2010 graduate of Highlights' Writers Workshop at Chautauqua.  She is a member of Sand Scribes, a local writers/illustrators group and on the board for the Huntington Beach Friends of the Children's Library.

During the school year, Sue can be found substituting for teachers in Ocean View School District classrooms, reading picture books and poetry to students whenever she can.  While Sue has "retired" from elementary school PTA duties, she is a Mesa View's PTSO volunteer and the vice-chair of the OVSD GATE District Advisory Committee.
